Job Details: Provide speech pathology (SP) services as part of a multidisciplinary team, to individual clients residing in

urban and remote settings, utilising diagnostic/consultative service delivery models in collaboration with families, clinics, aged

care services and other stakeholders, within government legislation and allocated resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Based on contemporary best practice, provide community based SP services utilising a consultative model to investigate, plan,

develop and monitor programs responsive to individual client needs.

2. In consultation with families, carers, guardians and health care providers, provide care coordination and liaise closely with

service providers and community networks to ensure effective and efficient outcomes for clients.

3. Work with existing community services to develop and enhance their capacity to meet client needs.

4. Maintain electronic and paper client clinical records to ensure continuity of care, and undertake administrative duties in relation

to effective service delivery.

5. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of local work unit Branch and Department of Health plans and

policies.

6. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection Criteria:
Essential :
1. A degree in Speech Pathology from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent) and eligibility for certified practising

membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

2. Relevant post-graduate experience in providing SP services to adults and the frail aged.

3. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a SP and perform effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing

quality services within relevant legislation, policy frameworks and ethical guidelines.

4. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary practice, trends and principles in the fields of impairment and ageing.

5. A well-developed understanding of the impact of cross cultural issues, particularly for people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait

Islander descent, on allied health service provision, including an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

6. Demonstrated high standard of oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, time management and organisation to

ensure effective teamwork.

7. A Northern Territory manual (C Class) driver’s licence or ability to obtain and an ability and willingness to travel by car, 4WD

vehicle and/or light aircraft to visit and work in rural and remote areas for periods of up to 5-days at a time.
