Job Responsibilities/Duties
Under limited direction;

1. Undertake research on radar calibration, wind retrieval and hail probability and size retrievals.

2. Undertake verification of the developed products using ancillary datasets.

3. Develop codes of operational standard and assist with their transition to operations.

4. Communicate results through reports, journal articles and presentations.

5. Comply with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and take reasonable
care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be
affected by your conduct.

6. Be aware of, and apply as necessary, the principles and practices of the various elements of the
Bureau's Social Justice Strategy.
Duty representing highest function: 1-3

Immediate Supervisor: EXECUTIVE LEVEL 2 UPPER (SPRS) Duties 1722

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the science of radar calibration, 3D wind retrieval
using Doppler radar, and hail properties retrieval using dual-polarization radar.
2. Demonstrated expertise in scientific programming and scripting. Demonstrated experience in
developing, documenting, and testing Python code is essential. C++ and Fortran knowledge are
also desirable.

3. Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically to achieve objectives and solve problems.

4. Communication skills. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including the

ability to communicate scientific results through publications and presentations, document
software and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
5. Social Justice. A knowledge and understanding of the principles of the Bureau’s Social Justice
Strategy and a demonstrated commitment to apply them in practice.
