THE DEPARTMENT
Alfred Health's ABI Community Rehabilitation Team provides community based rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The Community Team is part of a specialist statewide ABI rehabilitation service that includes a 42-bed inpatient ward a 4-bed transitional living service.
The clinical work is diverse, interesting and often complex. Frequent presenting issues include psychological disorder, emotional distress, behavior management, grief and adjustment.
THE GRADE TWO POSITION WILL INVOLVE
Delivery of high quality psychological assessment and intervention services to individuals with ABI and their families.
Commitment to a patient centered and goal directed approach to psychological service delivery.
Considerable liaison and joint work with other clinicians. Teamwork is core to the service.
A capacity to collaborate effectively within the interdisciplinary clinical team and with patients and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
An approved degree with a major in psychology and post graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctorate) in Clinical Psychology.
AHPRA Registration as a Psychologist is required.
Desirable
AHPRA endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist is desirable but we will consider applicants intending to complete the Registrar program.
Clinical experience in and knowledge of the psychological consequences of ABI.
Demonstrated skills and experience in psychological treatment, behavioural assessment and management and psycho-education of clients with ABI, developmental disorders or mental health conditions.
Experience working in community based settings and outreach roles.
The ABI Service provides psychologists with access to regular clinical supervision and opportunities for continued professional development. The successful applicant will join a dedicated and supportive team of psychologists.
