The secure containment of offenders is a cornerstone of a safe Victoria. In addition to aiding this effort, prison officers also help offenders undergo rehabilitation, so they can return to the community less likely to re-offend and with better job prospects. This helps reduce crime and set past offenders on the path to making a positive contribution to our shared lives.

◉ Earn an hourly rate of $32.04 as a casual officer. Full-time officers earn between $53,503 and $68,707 per year. Even if you do not secure a full-time position initially, there will likely be opportunities to obtain full-time work in the future, should you want it and be performing well.
◉ Enjoy penalty rates paid on night shifts and weekends, and yearly wage/salary increases if you're performing up to standard.
◉ Undergo eight weeks of paid full-time training. By the end of the program, you will feel confident and well equipped to begin your new job. You will also be accredited with a Certificate III in Custodial Services Practice.
◉ Access to further education and ongoing training opportunities. Personalised professional development plans will also guide you through your career with the Department of Justice and Regulation.
