Job Details:
As a member of the renal education team, you will be responsible for enabling recruitment and
retention of nursing staff by supporting and delivering renal clinical practice development programs consistent with
national standards and best practice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide workplace-based clinical educational programs to meet the contemporary needs of nursing staff working
within renal.
2. In consultation with Director of Nursing Renal, Senior Renal Educator, assess the learning needs and clinical
competencies of nursing staff in all areas of renal nursing, including graduates
3. Develop effective educational programs to target different levels of expertise and confidence using research and
evidence based concepts.
4. Ensure a cohesive and collaborative role with other Clinical Nurse Educators and Senior Renal Educator
5. Develop strong networks with health service managers, senior clinical staff and external agencies.
6. Participate in other projects associated with renal services as directed by the Director of Nursing and/or Senior Renal
Educator.
Selection Criteria
Essentia l :
1. Eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse or Registered
Midwife.
2. Completion of renal post graduate tertiary qualification
3. Experience as a nurse educator with the ability to deliver education programs/clinical instruction.
4. Extensive nursing experience in all areas of the renal clinical environment
5. Knowledge of contemporary education and training issues for nurses and midwives with demonstrated ability to apply
adult learning principles in the workplace.
6. Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and in a
multidisciplinary environment.
7. Proven ability to implement Continuous Quality Improvement strategies in education and training.
8. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures in the clinical setting.
9. Demonstrated computer literacy especially with Microsoft Office Products.
